Job Context
  • Role Purpose: The key purpose of this role will be to provide leadership, strategic direction and delivery for the Society portfolio across Bangladesh
  • The post holder will work with the Country leadership, Regional Directors of Education and Society, regional and global teams to lead the Society portfolio at country level, contributing to regional objectives and performance as a member of the South Asia Regional Society Leadership team.
  • Lead the management & delivery across the Society portfolio in Bangladesh to achieve business objectives of sustainability and business growth
  • Lead the pursuit and delivery of contracts within the Society portfolio in line with the strategic focus for Bangladesh
  • Support the professionalisation of teams to deliver business objectives across contracts and partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with relevant organisations from the UK and Bangladesh
  • Provide sector expertise technical knowledge and leadership to our Civil Society and Governance portfolio.
Job Description / Responsibility
  • The post holder will work closely with the country leadership, Regional Directors Education & Society and regional Society team to contribute to the delivery of the country, regional and global E&S strategy & business plan. The post holder will be a member of the South Asia Regional Society Leadership team.
  • This role will have direct responsibility for pursuit and delivery of opportunities under the Society portfolio, including contracts, key account management of relevant government agencies, development and other partners. The role will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of contracts and projects, through good practice in initiation and implementation of projects, as well as direct contribution as a technical expert and project director.
  • The main accountabilities of this role within the Society portfolio are:
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Lead the country Society team, vision and narrative, in alignment with regional, country and global strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategies and plans which ensure the Society portfolio in Bangladesh and region maximises opportunities to generate value for the UK and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Shape the portfolio of work for the country, supporting audience led working and supporting pursuit and delivery of contract opportunities within the scope of Society.
  • Leadership & Management:
  • Provide leadership to the Society portfolio across our contract, partnerships and paid services opportunities
  • Be accountable for the Society portfolio targets and objectives
  • Responsible for start-up and implementation of designated activity and on-going management, including financial controls, budgetary management, monitoring & evaluation, impact assessment etc.
  • Responsible for the effective management of any directly reporting staff, coaching and supporting any individuals and teams involved in delivering outcomes
  • Ensure that the country has the capacity and expertise to deliver the strategic and financial objectives for the region and SBU.
  • Resource management for business opportunities, including delivery, across contracts, partnerships and paid services
  • Business & Commercial Management:
  • Lead management of in-country client relationships and partnerships, including key UK partners for the country, including building relations with key development contract clients and partners
  • Identify and build collaborative partnerships with bid partners, sub-contractors and delivery partners for designated activity
  • Achieve annual and 2020 commercial targets and be accountable for the delivery of the targets.
  • Drive pursuit of new opportunities across the funding mechanisms and coordinate pursuit of activities with other Strategic Business Units
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Quality assurance and technical monitoring and evaluation of the delivery of the portfolio to ensure that all impacts are appropriately documented and disseminated (I added something in leadership & management that could move here)
  • Resource Management:
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for the implementation of projects based on centre of excellence best practice.
  • Develop increased capability in country to pursue, design, deliver and evaluate programmes, including identification & management of associate, adviser, consultant & team leader networks
  • Risk Management & Corporate Compliance:
  • Monitor and report on compliance with corporate policies and procedures, (e.g. HR, Finance, Legal, Security, EDI etc), intervening, where required, to ensure effective management of risk.

  • At least 10 year(s)
Job Requirements
  • At least 10 (ten) years’ work experience in similar role
  • Excellent communication skills both in Bangla and in English
  • Strong knowledge of setting strategic direction for a business, department or region
  • Significant Knowledge and experience of large scale society programmes in a cultural relations and/or development context

Salary Range
    Tk. 226000 – 340000
